Thanks for sharing your story—I lost my dad going on nine years ago to Lewy body dementia and there’s no easy way to get through it. ❤️❤️

That’s for sure! Humor helps sometimes! 😊 I’m sorry about your father!

Wow that brings it all back... the slow pace of memory care. It sounds like your mom is in a good place. As good as it can be! It also sounds like she is pretty peaceful and at ease. That's huge and must help you be at ease as well. Also eating meals...so many funny things in those daily events.

Yes! I think overall, it's the best possible scenario. Still hard to experience, of course. It's sooooo sloowwwww... I find it relaxing, tbh. It's almost meditative. haha.

I can't imagine what it must be like to see your mom decline like that. That said, you described a certain beauty and her becoming almost the closest version to herself she may ever have been. A friend told me about her mom's cognitive decline, and how it actually improved their relationship because her mom was finally able to let go of past hurts and resentments. I love this perspective, but I can also imagine it would be a hard one to maintain.

Thanks, Kaila! I can relate to what your friend said. It's beautiful and painful at times. I often wonder if we'd get closer anyway, as two adults rather than a mother and daughter reversing roles. But I'll take what I can get! ;)

Well older doesn't always mean closer, I can say that from experience! But one never knows.

Exactly, accepting and finding beauty in what you have is the best way to navigate life's challenges that I've come across. 🥰
